Tacktick Media Coverage of the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship: Friday AP to be lowered shortly…
Pierre Lemaire our Championship PRO has judged that the wind is building sufficiently to lower the AP and bring the fleet out to join us. Wind is averaging marginally above 5 knots from 205 degrees and lloks like it will build like yesterday.
Looks like the final race showdown between UKA UKA and Alina is going to be on. Should be good!
More info when we have it….

Tacktick Media Coverage of the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship: Friday RC put to sea…
More in hope than expectaion in our humble opinion… Still windless here in Hyeres but the RC are trying to give themselves the best chance of getting racing underway before the 14.30pm cuttoff.
Tacktick Media Coverage of the 2009 Melges 24 European Championship: Friday AP Posted Ashore…
Racing is scheduled for a 10am start today but right now Hyeres is completely windless. RC have posted an AP as they wait for wind to arrive.
Some news from last night is that two boats including fourth placed Fantastica were observed by the RC at the finish of race two to be infringing the regatta rule regarding the compulsory wearing of life jackets. The RC subsequently protested these two boats (the other being Jekoteam) and they have both been disqualified from that race.
Fantastica have now dropped well down the order and out of contention meaning that Joe Fly now move into fourth place overall behind Blu Moon, Alina and Championship leaders UKA UKA Racing.
We will keep you updated on the wind situation as the morning progresses. Stay tuned.

Patchy breeze on the final run made for lots of passing opportunities. Blu Moon stayed composed and took the win by four or five lengths but the pack behind was changing places until the final inches to the line. Audi looked to have made a big gain in extra pressure on the left but right on the line Team Barbarians just squeezed in by the committee boat and nearly snatched second; however Audi took it by the narrowest of margins.

Ten degree right hand shift so second windward mark moved accordingly. Most of the top ten went to right gate mark.
