We’re just about to hop in the taxi down to the airport to catch our plane home but before we go we’d like to say a huge thank you to the Kalev Yacht Club, the Estonian and Finnish Melges 24 Fleets and absolutely everyone involved in making this a great, fun regatta. The hospitality in Tallinn has been amazing and everyone is going home with smiles on their faces. The RC has confirmed that they will shorten the race at the first leeward mark so we’re heading down there to try and catch the finish video. Its now very light across the entire course.
The RC has picked up the weather marks and is holding them in the mark boats pending a final call as the boats approach the bottom of the run. Certainly they look to be moving them back down the course to shorten the next leg but we’ll see if they need to make a change in direction too.
Over on the left side of the course (as viewed from the start line) Alberto Bolzan is making his move on John-Christian Eriksson and has gybed first into what looks to be a slightly better band of wind.
The wind is now very light and in distinct bands and patches across the course.
Uka Uka are not racing this final race. Their lead was sufficient that they have claimed the 2010 Marinepool Melges 24 World Championship title with a race to spare and they have headed back to the dock.
Meanwhile the battle for the remaining podium positions is going to be fierce. At the first mark overnight second placed Kristian Nergaard in Baghdad rounded in 52nd place while his closest rivals Alberto Bolzan and Flavio Favini rounded in second and fifth respectively. Right now that means that Bozand would take second and Favini third.
The wind is very patchy and lighter so its going to be a long hard race.
